Uses
Cephalexin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is used to treat susceptible bacterial infections throughout the body.
Possible Side Effects
Lack of appetite, vomiting, or diarrhea may occur. Some pets may experience drooling, rapid breathing, rashes, excitability, or high fever but this is rare. Other side effects are possible, so alert your veterinarian immediately if you notice any unusual symptoms or behaviors.
Drug & Food Interactions
Aminoglycosides, Amphotericin B, and Probenicid may interact with Cephalexin. Other drug interactions may occur. Always tell your veterinarian about any other medications or supplements your pet is taking before starting Cephalexin.
Precautions
Do not use in animals who are allergic to this class of antibiotics. Do not give Cephalexin to animals who are allergic to hypersensitive penicillins as they may have an adverse reaction. Use is not recommended in pregnant or lactating animals.
